We went up to Whitefield (3hrs from Nahant), New Hampshire, for a long and relaxing weekend in Oktober. Although main season was over and temperatures dropped below 32'F (0'C) in the night already, we managed to find a little cottage close to Heidi and Roswitha's Hotel. It worked out really nice, we had all the necessary facilities to prepare Nic's food as well as enough space (inside & outside) for Walker. After a good breakfast at the Hotel we went for some very nice hikes every day. The location of Whitefield is somewhere north of all the major notches, such as Franconia or Pinkham Notch. Whithin 45 min. we had a wide variety of trails available. Parts of some trails we hiked were even part of the Appalachian Trail. Although the Indian Summer was already over, it was amazing how colorful the scenery still was. A mixture of green, red and yellow. We did the following trails:
(We tried to get up to Mount Washington but the road was already closed due to the amount of snow at the summit.) |
